Dr Vinton G. Cerf, a co-founder and creator of the Internet, has urged Pacific islanders to rise to the challenges and opportunities that the Internet provides to the Pacific and the world.

"The Internet is one of the most valuable contemporary tools for linking to the world-wide community for business, education, cultural exchange and travel. No one has a "corner" on creativity and the Pacific Island populations should have equal footing in the cyber world where they can leverage their own, unique talents.", said Dr Cerf.

His message, now available on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHO9VWUXDlA), comes ahead of this year’s PacINET, the Pacific’s leading annual I CT conference organised by the Pacific Islands Chapter of the Internet Society (PICISOC).

PacINET 2008 is scheduled to kick off in Cook Islands in September (www.picisoc.org).

CISSP Certification

A CISSP Exam will be conducted by (ISC)² on Saturday 6th September at the EdgeWater Resort.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is an independent information security certification governed by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (commonly known as (ISC)²). As of April 11, 2007, (ISC)² has reported certifying 48,598 information security professionals in more than 120 countries. In June, 2004, the CISSP program earned the ANSI ISO/IEC Standard 17024:2003 accreditation, the first IT certification to have done so. It is formally approved by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in both their Information Assurance Technical (IAT) and Managerial (IAM) categories. The CISSP has been adopted as a baseline for the U.S. National Security Agency's ISSEP program, which further extends the CISSP significantly (From Wikipedia).

You need to register with (ISC)² to attend this exam. All Exam participants can attend all PacINET 2008 activities (there are no registration fees for PacINET), but try to register to PacINET 2008
