PacINET is the annual PICISOC (Pacific Islands Chapter, Internet Society) Conference for practitioners, developers, researchers and those interested in ICT from all sectors to exchange information on the system design, enabling technologies, and anecdotal experiences related to the use of ICT in the Pacific Islands.
The conference is composed of several types of contributions including Paper Presentations, Demonstrations, Tutorials and Workshops, Panel Discussions and Invited Talks. Non-technical presentations may also be included where relevant, depending on merit.
Presentations may be made on the conference theme or on topics of interest to ICT in the Pacific including (but not limited to):
PacINET is loosely based on the INET meetings of ISOC - The Internet Society.
The PICISOC AGM is also held in conjunction with PacINET.

Most of the participants come with a notebook PC and some of them must be connected back to the office.

Hosting PacINET
Anyone from the PICISOC Country Membership may submit a bid to host PacINET.The requirements to host PacINET, together with a Bid Submission Form are available here:

The basic guidelines to hosting PacINET are as follows. Please refer to the document above for full details.
- Conference room capable of holding 100+ people
- Morning and Afternoon tea available
- Accommodation available for 100 or more
- Easy access to transportation for delegates
- Customs waiver arrangements for delegates bringing in equipment without pre-payment of duties and taxes
- Full Time Internet Connectivity
- Leased line or similar with 1Mb/s minimum (>2Mb/s preferred)
- No packet filtering, some (min 12) public IP addresses available
- Bandwidth for webcasting (additional 256kb/s)
- Network cabling to nearly all seats or free WiFi? system for participants (one access point per 30-40 participants)
- Power plug for nearly all seats
- Audio Conference System
- Audio Internet Streaming capability
- 2 Video Projectors minimum (one for presenters, one for IRC)
- White Board and various Conference Aids
- Additional conference/meeting rooms for concurrent sessions with presentation facilities as above
- On Location Organizing Committee of at least three People
- A commitment to see the event through
